Goodbye to my sweet friend...

On Saturday, I lost one of my dearest friends, Sequoia.  He was part of the original three goats that started me out on this wonderful farm journey.  He was 13 years old and was very frail in the last few weeks of his life.  I pampered him and babied him and I know he had the best life possible here.  My heart is so sad but also so grateful for the good times, laughs, and companionship he provided.

One winter, my son made a snow goat for Sequoia!

After a Spring shearing
In his own little "puppy" house that Ken built just for him
~~~
He was big and strong and loved to play.  He loved apples and frosted mini-wheats and knew how to shake hands.  He always wanted to be the first goat to be sheared and one year, when we didn't choose him first, he pried the boards off of the gate with his big, thick horns. (Yes, that's true...just ask my husband.  He had to fix the gate!)
Oh, how these woolly kids get wrapped around my heart!
Sooo sorry about sweet sequoia!I have lost animals over the years and no matter what the circumstance it is never easy!They are so much a part of the family!Our kitty was 20 years old and was in our family since she was born!I sometimes still expect her to jump in my lap and get hair all over my computer:)Don't need that can of air much anymore.I would so love to have goats and sheep!We have 2 golden retrievers that are just like kids!We just bought a new car so that they could ride more comfortably!
Hope you will feel better soon and remember the funny things he did:)
Have a Blessed Day
Oh Kris, I'm so sad for you. I was just saying to my husband last night how sad it is that our animals are in our lives for such a short time but give us such unconditional love and such sadness when they are gone. We have 2 "watch goats" - Nigerian dwarf for grazing. They let us know when someone is here and of course when it is time for them to eat.
Love the snowgoat!
Oh, I'm so sorry to hear about your precious pet. I'm sure he had a wonderful life and while he can never be replaced... when the time is right there will be new little baby goats needing your love.
So sad to hear about the loss of your friend Sequoia. I'm sure goats will be guided to Rainbow Ridge just the same as my Shumba, Panzer, and Shadow and all the critters who have become part of us.
